  1. UNIT 3: MY FRIENDS LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED I. AIMS. 1. Knowledge . Students will be able to : - Introduce the topic of the unit. -Know more about the lexical items related to the topic “My friends”. -Learn more about body parts. - Know how to use adjective to describe a classmate. 1.1. Vocabulary: Body parts and appearance and personality adjectives. 1.2. Grammar: Present continuous tense. 2. Competences . - By the end of the lesson students can develop self control and self study - The students also form communication skills and team cooperation with other members. - Students know how to solve problems in different ways in a creative way. 3. Quality. -The students love their friends , have responsibility to conserve their friendship. II. TEACHING AIDS 1. Students: Student’s book, workbook, note book. 2. Teachers: Computer, CDs , Projector III. TEACHING PROCEDURES 1.Class organization/ Warm up. - T asks students some questions about the picture. -Introduce the new lesson . 2. New lesson 2.1. Vocabulary . - picnic ( N) : dã ngoại ( Picture) - to pass : đưa cho ( explanation) 1
  2. - guest ( N) : khách ( explanation) - biscuit( N): bánh bích quy ( real thing) - magazine ( N): tạp chí ( picture) * Check vocabulary: Rub out and remember 2.2. Activities . a. Activity 1: Listen and read.( Part 1- Page 26 ) * Objective : To help students deeply understand the text. * Content : Listen and read the conversation to complete the task related to the topic of the unit. * Output: Complete the task * Process: - T writes the title of the lesson “A surprise guest ” on the BB. - T explains the meaning of “surprise ” -Ask students to look at the picture and answer the questions. a. How many people are there in the picture? b.What is Phong doing? c.What are they eating and drinking? d.Who do Phong and Nam see? e.Where are the two girls going? - T plays the recording. Students listen and read. Phong: That was a great idea, Nam. I love picnics! Nam: Please pass me the biscuits. Phong: Sure. Here you are. Nam: Thanks. What are you reading, Phong? Phong: 4Teen. It's my favourite magazine! Nam: Look! It's Mai. And she is with someone. Phong: Oh, who's that? She has glasses and long black hair. Nam: I don't know. They're coming over. Mai: Hi there. This is my friend Chau. Phong & Nam: Hi, Chau, Nice to meet you. Chau: Nice to meet you, too. Nam: Would you like to sit down? We have lots of food. Mai: Oh, sorry, we can't. We're going to the bookshop. Chau: Bye for now. Phong & Nam: Bye bye. 2
  3. - Ask students to work in group of four. - Students practice the dialogues. - Some groups perform before class. - Ask students to read the conversation again and do this activity independently. b.Activity 2: Fill the blanks with the words from the conversation.( Part 2- Page 27 ) 1. Mai and Chau ___ the bookshop. - Ask students to read the conversation and find the word s to fill the blank. - Allow them to share answers before discussing as a class.   5. -Show the picture on the slide and have students point at each body part and say its name. Check Ss' answers and confirm the correct ones. - Have students work in groups and brainstorm all other words for body parts. Activity 4: Work in groups.Complete the word webs.( Part 4- Page 27 ) * Objective : To revise and provide students with some vocabulary to describe parts of the body. * Content : Complete the word webs. * Output : Complete the task. * Process : -Have students work in groups and complete the word webs in a few minutes. -Check and confirm the correct answers. Suggested answers: - long / short: legs, arms, hair, etc. - big / small: head, hands, ears, feet, eyes, nose, etc. - hair: black, straight, fair, curly, wavy, long / short, etc. e. Activity 5: Work in groups.Take turns to describe a classmate.Other group members guess who he / she is.( Part 5- Page 27 ) * Objective: To help students practise using words for body parts and appearance through a guessing game. 5
  6. * Content : Take turns to describe a classmate.Other group members guess who he / she is. * Output : Practice describing a classmate . * Process: - Explain the rules of the game: Students work in groups. They take turns to describe a classmate for other group members to guess. Example: A: She has long hair and big eyes. B: Is that Mai ? A: That’s right. - Ask students to work in groups to describe their classmates A: He has short brown hair and wear glasses. B: Is that Phong? A: That’s right. - Move around to observe and offer help. - Invite one or two students to describe a classmate in front of the class. Other students guess. 3. Consolidation. -Teacher says some main points of the lesson. 4. Homework. - Learn the lesson -Do exercises of part A in the workbook. -Prepare for the next lesson: Unit 1: A closer look 1. 5. Teaching experience ( handwriting): Teacher takes note after the lecture. 6
