- Week 24 Preparing date: 26/2/2023 Teaching date: 28/2/2023 PERIOD 68: UNIT 8: SPORTS AND GAMES LESSON 7: LOOKING BACK & PROJECT I. AIMS 1. Knowledge: Students will be able to review and do exercises about the vocabulary and the grammar notes students have learnt during this unit. - Practise talking and giving presentation of a traditional game. 1.1. Vocabulary: Related to the topic “Sports and games ” 1.2. Grammar: The past simple, imperatives 2. Competences - Autonomy and self study, communication and collaboration, problem solving and creativity . - They can do exercises about the vocabulary and the grammar notes - Practice talking and giving presentation of a traditional game. - To improve group work, independent working, pair work, linguistic competence, cooperative learning and communicative competence. 3. Quality - Ss will be more aware of spending time playing sports and games and choose the best sport and game for yourself. - To develop and improve for students the following qualities: patriotism, kindness, hard work, honesty, responsibility II. TEACHING AIDS 1. Students: Students’ books, workbooks, notebooks, pens 2. Teachers: Textbook, lesson planning, computer accessed to the Internet, projector, pictures, word cards, video clip. III. TEACHING PROCEDURES 1. Class organization/ Warm up: Guessing games - T gives some clues. - T asks students to read the four words in each line - Guess the name of the games or sport the four words belong to - T calls Ss and gives the correct answers. + pedals, wheels, ride, race: ___Cycling___

New lesson Vocabulary a. Activity 1: Find one odd word/ phrase in each question. * Aim: To help Ss revise the vocabulary items they have learnt in the unit. * Content: revise the vocabulary items about sports & games. * Output: Ss retells and do exercise correctly * Process. - Ss do this task individually. - Share with their partners. - T calls on some Ss to read the answers aloud. - Confirm the correct answers as a class. - Have the whole class read the words/ phrases correctly. Key: 1.C 2.A 3. C 4. B 5.B b. Activity 2: Put the correct form of the verbs play, do or go in the blanks. * Aim: To help Ss revise the combination of the verbs play, do and go with names of different sports/ games. * Content: The combination of the verbs play, do and go with names of different sports/ games. * Output: Ss remember these combinations and do exercise correctly * Process. - Tell Ss that in English sports and games may go after one of three verbs: play, do and go. - Ss have to remember these combinations. - Allow Ss time to do the task individually. - Share with their partners. - Call on some Ss to write the answers on the board. - T gives them the correct answers. - T calls on some Ss to read the sentences. Activity 3: Put the verbs in brackets in the correct form. * Aim: To help Ss revise the use of the past simple tense in context. * Content: Review form and use of the past simple tense. * Output: Give the form and do this exercise correctly. * Process. - Have Ss work in pairs and put the verbs in brackets in the correct form of the past simple. - Tell Ss to pay attention to the point of time given in the sentences. - Share with their partners. - Check their answers as a class. - Writing d. Activity 4: What do you say in these situations? * Aim: To help Ss revise the use of imperatives (positive and negative) in different situations. * Content: Revise how to use imperatives * Output: Ss can give comments in these situations. * Process - Ss work individually. - Ask them to revise how to use imperatives (positive and negative) in these situations. - Call on some Ss to read their sentences. - Have other Ss give comments. - Confirms the correct sentences. Key: Please stop making noise. Go out to play with your friends. Don't feed the animals. Stand in line, boys! Don't touch the dog. e. Activity 5: Fill each blank with ONE word to complete the passage. * Aim: To help Ss revise the vocabulary related to sports / games in context. * Content:Review some new words about sports and games. * Output: Ss can retell all the words related to this topic. * Process - Ask Ss to do the task individually first. - Ss check their answers with a partner - Ss discuss as a class. - T gives corrections. - Have some Ss read the whole passage aloud (may be sentence by sentence). Sports 5. famous Project: Activity 1: Read the information about a traditional game. *Aim: To introduce to Ss the traditional team game Blind man's buff. * Content: Read to find the information about traditional games. * Output: Ss have more knowledge about traditional games * Process - Have Ss read the information about a traditional game carefully. - Explain new words and anything difficult to Ss. - Make sure they understand everything thoroughly: (The equipment and location, the rules and different steps) Activity 2: Choose one of the following games and write about it. *Aim: To help Ss practise writing about a traditional game. * Content: Write about a traditional game
- * Output: Ss know how to write and finish their writing * Process - Each student chooses one of the games given and writes about it . Name of the game: Number of players: Equipment: How to play Activity 3: Work in groups. Take turns to give presentation. * Aim:To help Ss practise talking giving presentation about a traditional game. * Content: To give presentation about a traditional game * Output: Ss develop group work skills, how to give presentation * Process - Have Ss work in groups of 4 or 5. - Let each of them present their talk to the group. - T and other Ss make comments. 3. Consolidation - Ask Ss what they have learnt in Unit 8. - Have them recall the important elements; words/ phrases and combinations related to the topic sports and Games. - Sounds /e/and /ổ / - The past simple; Imperatives. 4. Homework - Play the game “Blind man’s bluff”. - Do exercise in workbook . - Finish project at home. - Choose one of the following sports/games and write about it. - Prepare for the next lesson: Unit 9 - Lesson 1: Getting started
