- LESSON PLAN OF ENGLISH GRADE 6 2021 -2022 2nd semester Week: 22 Preparing date: / / 2022 Teaching date: 07/ 04/ 2022 PERIOD 65: UNIT 9. CITIES OF THE WORLD LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED “What nice photos!” I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Knowledge By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Listen and read for specific information - Know some vocabulary, use the lexical items related to the topic "Cities of the world” - Practice speaking with the lexical items related to the topic "Cities of the world” 1.1. Vocabulary: cities and landmarks; adjectives used to describe the cities 1.2. Grammar: exclamations and be famous for 2. Competences - By the end of the lesson Ss can develop self control and self study - The Ss also form communication skills and team cooperation with other members. - Ss know how to solve problems in different ways in a creative way. 3. Quality - Having the serious attitude to studying and the good relationship with friends. - The love of learning English, hard-working, honest, cooperative, sociable, good communication. - Using adjectives to talk about their favorite cities II. TEACHING AIDS 1. Students: Student’s book, workbook, notebook, pen, pencil. 2. Teachers: lesson plan, textbook, workbook, projector, pictures, electronic book. III. TEACHING PROCEDURES 1. Class organization/Warm up (5’): “Lucky money” game * Aim: To engage Ss into the lesson * Content: questions related to some countries in the world * Output: students’ attention and confidence * Process: - Introduce Ss the rule of the game - Ss play the game: + Choose the flag of the country they like + Answer the question behind the flag. If they are lucky, they can get lucky money. (lucky money) (What is the capital of England?) (Let’s dance “Gangnam style”)

Set the scene: ? How many people are there in the picture? Who are they? ? What are they looking at? - Ask students to guess the main ideas of the conversation 2.2. Activities a. Activity 1: Listen and read * Aim: To help Ss understand the conversation * Content: Listen and read the conversation to complete the tasks related to the topic of the lesson. * Output: new vocabulary, the main ideas of the conversation and some specific information * Process: - T plays the recording. Ss listen carefully (once). - In pairs, Ss practice the conversation (2 pairs) in front of class. * Word webs: - Ss work in 4 groups, read the conversation again and complete the 4 word webs: Times Sydney Square city landmark New The River London Big Ben York Thames exciting clean What nice photos! beautiful interesting adjective exclamation bad What bad weather! - LESSON PLAN OF ENGLISH GRADE 6 2021 -2022 2nd semester * Aim: - To help Ss know where the cities are located in the world * Content: write the name of the cities (Sydney, New York and London) * Output: Ss can revise the name of continents and know the position of the cities on the world map * Process: - Ss name 5 continents first and find them on the map - Ask students to answer some questions: + Which continent is Sydney, Australia in? (Australia) + Which continent is London, England in? (Europe) + Which continent is New York, the USA in? (America) - Have three students go to the board and write the name of the cities - Check as a class Key: 1. New York 2. London 3. Sydney c. Activity 3: Read and match * Aim: - To help Ss practice reading for specific information * Content: adjectives describing the cities * Output: Ss can make and say simple sentences about the cities. * Process: - Instruct students to do this activity - Let them work individually, match the cities with the adjectives describing them - Have students compare their answer with a partner - Check with the whole class Key: 1. Sydney - c. exciting, d. beautiful 2. London – a. rainy 3. New York – b. crowded, e. interesting - Ask students to complete the sentences using their answers as suggestions - Ask the whole class to read aloud each sentence altogether Key: 1. Sydney is beautiful and exciting with a lot of beaches. 2. It is rainy in London. 3. Times Square in New York is crowded but interesting. d. Activity 4: Match the cities with their landmarks * Aim: - To help Ss improve writing and reading skills * Content: landmarks of the cities and the structure “be famous for” * Output: Ss can write and say the simple sentences describing the cities. * Process: - T guides Ss how to do, runs through the name of the landmark in the pictures. - Students work individually and match. - Check students’ answer with the whole class Key: 1. Ha Noi – c. One-Pillar Pagoda 2. London – d. Big Ben Tower 3. New York – a. The Statue of Liberty 4. Sydney – b. Sydney Opera House - Have students write full sentences about the cities using “be famous for”. Teacher modals first:

London is famous for Big Ben Tower. 3. New York is famous for the Statue of Liberty. 4. Sydney is famous for Sydney Opera House. e. Activity 5: Game “Fast as the flash” * Aim: - To help Ss relax and check their knowledge of Vietnamese cities * Content: Choose the correct answer * Output: some famous Vietnamese cities * Process: - Tell students the rule of the game: + The teacher reads aloud each question. At the end of the question, the teacher counts 1, 2, 3. + To achieve the right for answering, the pairs of students run as fast as they can to take the toy.
